November is Pet Awareness Month!

What better way to celebrate National Pet Awareness Month than by dedicating a blog to all the fur babies of ISCG. We have mentioned in previous blogs that we are a pet friendly workplace, so it’s no surprise that many of us are pet owners. Pets not only give us love, but they also increase happiness and motivation, encourage patience and can even improve human health. Our whole team was excited to share a few words and photos of their pets as you can see below.

Kerri: Belle

  • Age: 9 or 10
  • Likes: Laying on her mom’s lap and hiding under blankets.
  • Dislikes: Being picked up
  • Fun Facts: Belle is very talkative and sassy. She loves to eat, which you can tell by the pictures.

Nives: Buttons & Sammy

  • Age: 11
  • Breed: Maltipoo Mix
  • Favorite Toy: Half blown balloons
  • Fun Facts: Buttons is soooo soft, but he barks and reacts to everything because every little noise terrifies him, even the kissy lip sounds. When you pick him up you can always tell who was last hugging on him because he will smell like their perfume.

  • Age: 9-1/2
  • Breed: Manchester Terrier Mix
  • Fun Facts: Sammy doesn’t actually eat any of his bone treats. He buries them in the backyard or hides them anywhere he can. He loves blankets and being around people. He can never get enough hugs and kisses.

Mary Ann: Scout

  • Age: 13-1/2
  • Breed: Golden Doodle
  • Favorite Toy: Tennis Ball
  • Favorite Food: Cheese
  • Fun Facts: Scout has a ton of spunk for an old lady. She was born in Canada on a Mennonite farm and was one of the first golden doodles. Even though she's up in her age she can still pull like a sled dog when her dad takes her skijoring in the snow!

Morgan V.: Elphie, Ari & Naomi

  • Age: 4
  • Breed: Calico
  • Fun Facts: Elphie’s name is short for Elphaba, from the musical Wicked. She was rescued from a shelter in Royal Oak. She’s a morning cat and wakes us up every day at 6am on the dot… even weekends.

  • Age: 3
  • Breed: Tabby
  • Fun Facts: Ari was rescued as a kitten from a shelter in Lansing. She is not a fan of her new sister Naomi.

  • Age: 9 months

  • Fun Facts: Harry recently graduated from basic obedience training. He loves swimming and long walks in the neighborhood. He also enjoys going to the dog park and chasing the other dogs.

Angelica: Malley

  • Age: 8
  • Breed: Welsh Terrier
  • Likes: Squeaky toys, hunting animals in the yard, car rides, swimming, food (any kind), and visiting ISCG
  • Dislikes: Crates, being left alone, baths, and teeth brushing
  • Requirements: Daily walks as soon as you get home from work, treats, being with the pack (Angelica and Rick), and sleeping in beds
  • Fun Facts: Malley has a special trick called "please" that he uses to get anything he wants. He also thinks that all gift bags have a toy for him inside.

Katie: Maximus

  • Breed: Half English and half American Labrador Retriever
  • Likes: Milk, fish skin treats, long walks on the beach and baths
  • Dislikes: Sirens, toilet paper/paper towel rolls and squirrels
  • Fun Facts: Max is short for Maximus Jay Leno, due to his white spots on his tail and chest. He also howls only when his human sister cries, but not when his human brother cries.

Bob: Oliver

  • Age: 9
  • Breed: Russian Blue
  • Fun Facts: Oliver takes voice commands like a dog. While playing when his dad says all done Oliver will roll over to take a break.

Stephannie: Remington and Maize

  • Age: 4
  • Breed: Tabby
  • Favorite Toy: Mice
  • Fun Facts: Remington loves lettuce, tomatoes, avocados, turkey and chicken, to name a few.  He is easily frightened and likes to hiss for no reason. His morning routine consists of curling up in the sink as mom gets ready.

  • Age: 9
  • Breed: British Blue
  • Favorite Toy: Stuffed rose
  • Fun Facts: Maize is 15lbs. He loves cuddles and his armpits scratched. He also loves of water from the faucet and is a big talker. He has to sleep on the blanket between his mom and dad every night. While begging for food at the dinner table he has a variety of facial expressions to convince them to feed him.

Evie: Luna and Merlot

  • Age: 7 months
  • Breed: Flat coat Retriever/Collie Mix
  • Favorite Toy: Anything that makes noise
  • Fun Facts: Luna was rescued from Compass Dog Rescue this July. She loves to run around in the backyard and wrestle with her dad. When bending down you have to watch your face because you are likely to get licked. At the end of the day she enjoys snuggling one the couch until she falls asleep.

  • Age: 2-1/2
  • Breed: Bombay
  • Favorite Food: Watermelon
  • Fun Facts: Merlot has a huge personality for such a little thing. She was a stray cat that was just skin and bones when we found her. Since then she has put on more than a few pounds due to her appetite for almost all people food. She loves being around people and going on walks in her stroller. She also knows how to "sit" & "lay down" for a treat.

Shelly: Jeter, Sparky and Willie

  • Age: 6
  • Breed: Domestic Long Hair
  • Fun Facts: Jeter works off a schedule and wakes up her parents every morning, so there is no need for an alarm clock.

  • Age: 4
  • Breed: Domestic Short Hair
  • Fun Facts: Sparky likes to keep the house clean by knocking everything off the counter. During the holiday season he enjoys sleeping on top of the Christmas tree.

  • Age: 3
  • Breed: Bernese Mountain Dog
  • Fun Facts: Willie is a stubborn pup who loves the winter and hates the summer. Every day he gives his brother and sister kisses.

Michele: Gracie

  • Age: Almost 12
  • Breed: Domestic Short Hair
  • Fun Facts: Gracie greets her mom at the door every day when she returns from work. She’s exceedingly vocal which means her mom gets to hear her howl, yowl, & meow as she follows her from room-to-room. She even talks to herself!  Gracie was one in a litter of kitties that were born into foster care and it was her stub of a tail that initially attracted her mom.  Her tail was only a few inches long and it curled back on itself (kind of like a Greek key motif), ending with a pom-pom puff of hair.

Danielle: Oberon and Zoey

  • Age: 6
  • Breed: Lab Mix
  • Fun Facts: Oberon was rescued from Serenity Animal Hospital. He loves cuddling on the couch with his parents and his sister Zoey. He is a pro beggar that waits patiently for any table scraps he can convince you to give him with his big puppy dog eyes. He also enjoys going to doggie daycare to “play with puppies”.

  • Age: 4
  • Favorite Toy: Her mouse that squeaks when she hits it.
  • Fun Facts: Zoey is a vocal little thing that was also rescued from Serenity Animal Hospital. She enjoys gazing out the window from her kitty condo and lying in the sun. Even though her fur markings resemble a mustache she has the most feminine “meow”.
Such short little lives our pets have to spend with us, and they spend most of it waiting for us to come home each day.
