Finding the perfect chair for your space can be confusing, but we are here to help! Columbia University conducted a study about ergonomics in the workplace and researchers complied which factors should be emphasized and what should only play a minor role when selecting your perfect chair.

Most people only focus on two things; appearance and cost. We agree that these are important factors as budget and overall look play hefty roles within an organization. Five factors that should carry the most weight are:

  • Ergonomic factors like comfort of the user

  • Adjustability factors like the range and ease of adjustability

  • Economic factors like initial cost, maintenance and life of chair

  • Safety factors like tipping and gliding

  • Miscellaneous factors like swivel mechanism, weights and casters

Now, there are plenty of myths out there on the inter-webs regarding ergonomic task chairs. Hover over each image to learn the truth.
