CONGRATULATIONS TO THESE WINNERS!

In honor of ISCG's 40th anniversary, we're giving back to the community by giving away 40 new, state-of-the-art ergonomic chairs to charity.

Thank you to everyone who nominated very deserving charities! We are overwhelmed by the hundreds of responses we received for groups doing amazing things in Metro-Detroit. While we wish we could give to all the charities nominated, we are happy to support some organizations that showed great enthusiasm and truly deserve some new chairs so they can continue to help others in the community.

THE RECIPIENTS:

Vets Returning Home
Vets Returning Home supports veterans in crisis with the means to stabilize and reintegrate as a contributing member of their community. One in every ten homeless persons in the United States has served in the military, but Vets Returning Home is helping to combat that with a 40-bed shelter for male veterans willing to abstain from drugs and alcohol and engage in their transition. The Vets Returning Home program helps veterans with life skills, job opportunities, PTSD counseling, meals and clothing, and much more. ISCG chose Vets Returning Home as a way to give back to veterans who served our country, and because the group is quietly and humbly tackling a tough problem and making a major difference in our community. We hope the chairs provide veterans a comfortable and restful place to do everything they need to get back on their feet.

CARE of Southeastern Michigan
CARE of Southeastern Michigan helps individuals, families, and businesses affected by family concerns, workplace challenges, mental health conditions, and the misuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. They help people avoid negative influences, get them the treatment and support they need to change their lives, and help them rediscover their value as human beings. CARE will soon celebrate its 40th anniversary as well, and ISCG chose CARE because of their wonderful mission and need for chairs after using hand-me-down furniture for decades. CARE is providing an important service to the community, and the chairs will go a long way in increasing the productivity of employees and volunteers who help thousands of people get on the right path every year.

FAR Therapeutic Arts and Recreation
FAR uses creative arts and recreation as therapeutic tools to develop the potential of people with special needs. FAR’s therapists draw from the fields of art therapy, music therapy, and recreational therapy to nurture the development of the whole person, to overcome physical, intellectual, and emotional barriers, build self-esteem, discover the joy of self-expression, and much more. Submissions for FAR were unique because many came from parents of clients who have been positively impacted by FAR’s programs. ISCG chose FAR because people had wonderful things to say about the organization, and nearly every person mentioned that FAR is using chairs that they found dumpster diving at a local church. FAR’s dedication to putting every penny towards its clients makes the organization a very deserving winner of new chairs.

Accounting Aid Society
Accounting Aid Society (AAS) provides financial tools for individuals and small businesses, and has returned more than $350 million to southeast Michigan since it started in 1972. They help individuals make financial plans and file a tax return – often the largest amount of money that a family or individual receives all year – that helps pay bills, puts food on the table, and keeps people in their homes. They also help entrepreneurs start small businesses by creating a consulting plan that results in sound financial practices to sustain and grow their business. ISCG chose AAS as a 40 Chairs for Chair-ity winner because of their wonderful enthusiasm for the giveaway, and the compelling nominations we received. The chairs will go to AAS employees and volunteers who spend countless hours sitting to prepare tax returns for people who need it most.
